When most people think of roofline products they think of fascias, soffits and guttering … Actually that might not be true. Possibly most first thoughts are: “What is a roofline?” Even after they are told, the next thought is often along the lines of: “And what is a soffit, exactly?” This isn’t a comment about people from Chelmsford or even Essex, and certainly not about people in Wigan. The soffit is the panel that seals the gap between the top of the fascia and the roof. Guttering and downpipes direct rain water from the roof, away from the houses, and into the drains.
There are a few more terms you may not be familiar with. Bargeboard hang from the eaves, protecting the gable end of the house and the ends of the roof rafters. Boxboards seal the join between fascias, soffits and bargeboards. And weatherboard protects exposed brickwork from the worst of the British weather.
